Boise State University’s College of Engineering has received a $2.25 million gift, a tribute to the late international construction industry leader and former Morrison-Knudsen (M-K) CEO William H. McMurren.

“This endowed faculty position will offer profound benefits: it will support excellence in our construction management faculty, give students the opportunity for valuable experiential learning, and foster innovation that impacts the communities we serve. The Palmer family recognizes the power of their investment. I am proud that this faculty position honors a man who so significantly impacted Boise and the state of Idaho. It will invite generations of Broncos to follow in his footsteps,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, Boise State president.

The gift creates resources for faculty and opportunities for students while cementing the legacy of William H. McMurren. The McMurren Atrium and the Construction Management Building will be a hub for innovation, collaboration and inspiration, ensuring that McMurren’s legacy endures as part of the educational journey for students for years to come.

“Through the generosity and leadership of Catherine and Bob Palmer, we are able to establish and support a critical faculty position that creates opportunities for students to excel in the construction management field. The Palmers’ longtime support of the college and legacy they have created for Mr. McMurren will be showcased in perpetuity for generations of engineering students as a testament to what’s possible,” said Matthew Ewing, vice president for University Advancement.

Increasing the number of endowed faculty positions at Boise State is one of the priorities of Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University. The William H. McMurren Endowed Chair in Construction Management was created using the Boise State University Faculty Endowment Matching Program, where the university will match the endowment payout from these funds for five years.
