Supporting Niezgoda is the True Blue Scholarship, available to Boise State students based on need and academic achievement.

Lindsay Niezgoda comes from a long line of teachers. Both of her grandmothers were teachers, and she remembers visits to her mother’s kindergarten class before she herself was a kindergartener. Now, she’s following in their footsteps. Expecting to graduate from Boise State University in May of ’24, this singer-songwriter is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education.

Passionate about the power of music, Niezgoda believes music lessons for K-12 students are an outlet for self-expression in a safe space. Supporting her is the True Blue Scholarship, available to Boise State students based on need and academic achievement. It empowers her to become her best during her time at Boise State, so she might empower her own students to thrive in the future.

The True Blue, combined with the Balukoff Family Music Scholarship, covers her tuition at Boise State — something she said is “life-changing.” The funding gives her room to explore her interests outside of courses, like singing with the Meistersingers, Boise State’s best ensemble choir. On occasion, she performs for seniors in retirement homes.

With her degree, Niezgoda wants to teach high school choir, hopefully in the Treasure Valley. Meanwhile, the rigorousness of her courses along with the support of the True Blue provides the boost of confidence and skills she needs to graduate prepared to excel in the working world. When it comes to education, Broncos like this one won’t settle for less.

“I figured I could go to different universities, which would be easier, and coast,” she said. “Or, I could go to Boise State, be challenged, and walk out feeling prepared.”
